New Lion pursues undiscovered musical experiences by spanning eras, genres and generations. Deeply rooted in Jazz, and widely influenced by all musics, the band finds treasures hiding in plain sight by revealing the unusual in the familiar and the prosaic in the uncommon.

Canadian-born Adam Lamoureux is a twenty-year-old jazz Downbeat Award-winning tenor saxophonist and composer based in New York City. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Music Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. Said to be “One of the brightest young voices on the tenor saxophone” by WCKR Radio, Adam has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Cafe Bohemia, The Django, and is the recipient of multiple awards including a 2023 Downbeat Student award and the 2019 Rico Golden Reed award. As well, Lamoureux has attended various intensive programs including the JAS Academy in Aspen, Colorado.
Drummer Aaron Yanda hails from New Jersey and has studied with Billy Hart, Ari Hoenig and Tomas Fujiwara. He is currently pursuing a degree in Jazz percussion at Oberlin Conservatory.
Liam O’Malley is a musician and artist born and based in Brooklyn NY. Liam plays the double bass and has studied under maestros Walter Stinson, Peter Dominguez and Gerald Cannon. He is currently finishing his undergraduate degree at the The New School.
Guitarist Jim Yanda is a veteran of the New York creative music scene. He invents music at the nexus of Jazz, New Music, Free Improvisation, Blues, Country and Folk traditions.
